Many business-building initiatives are in progress such as building a new website and launching into social media
Martha Yaney contacted the Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC) in 2014 seeking assistance for Vista Group International. Martha took over the family business suddenly and she required assistance in a variety of areas including marketing, expanding her market and hiring staff. She was introduced to Nelson Merchan, CTSBDC business advisor, and they immediately got to work on creating a complete marketing strategy including messaging for her capability statement.
“We’re just beginning to scratch the service working together. We’ve set a series of goals to help Martha enhance her marketing program, find funding to hire the appropriate staff and identify other business-building needs,” says Nelson. “Martha actively looks for resources that can help her business grow. She knows of the importance of launching new technologies and improving the effectiveness of the marketing efforts. She listens, she talks, she tells a story and during the process we discover new opportunities. We’ll surely make a positive impact for Vista Group International.”
Nelson nominated Martha for the Connecticut Technology Council Women of Innovation award and she was selected as an honoree in the Small Business Innovation and Leadership category. They will attend the awards ceremony in April and Martha will be introduced to members of the Connecticut technology community and presented with a plaque for her outstanding innovative contributions in the state.
“Nelson is a mind expander. He opens up a lot of possibilities for my business because of his experience with a variety of companies. He can apply those success stories to my business. Nelson has a wide number of contacts and he knows state and other resources available for my business.
