CDC: Reopening Decision Worksheet

The CDC released a tool to help restaurants & bars evaluate public health considerations for reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is important to check with state and local health officials and other partners to determine the most appropriate actions while adjusting to meet the unique needs and circumstances of the local community.

National Restaurant Association: Reopening

The National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe team has released guidance to help restaurants restart when the nation begins reopening its businesses.

The guidance offers instruction on how to begin serving customers in partial and full-service capacities. The Association encourages combining the guidelines with existing corporate policies, the FDA Food Code, ServSafe training, and recommendations from local health officials.

Explore Dining Bonds for your Restaurant

The dining bonds are being offered by participating restaurants across the country at a suggested savings of 25 percent when purchased. For example, a $100 bond will sell for $75 and would be redeemed for full value on or after the redemption date, typically 30 – 60 days after purchase.

A dedicated website,, allows diners to search for and connect with participating restaurants while also letting restaurants sign on to the program. Transactions can then be handled directly between customer and restaurant, with individual restaurants setting their own terms and conditions and fulfilling the transactions.

Event Safety Alliance: Reopening

The Reopening Guide addresses health and sanitary issues that event and venue professionals need to consider in order to protect both patrons and workers.  Since there is still insufficient testing, no contact tracing, and no vaccine against COVID-19, this guidance is particularly detailed.  The first edition is tailored to be especially useful for event professionals reopening the smallest events with the fewest resources available to mitigate their risks, since in every municipal reopening plan these will be allowed to reopen first.
